Why Have Rhinoplasty In Plano TX?

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose, you should consider Rhinoplasty. Since the nose is such a central feature on your face, it’s hard to go unnoticed. Rhinoplasty is a single operation on your nose that can significantly improve the appearance of your entire face.

When you are not happy with your physical appearance, it can lead to low self-esteem and confidence issues. Unfortunately, not everyone would understand this relation between how you look and how you feel. In fact, perhaps people in your family or your close friends may even try to dismiss these concerns of yours. However, you are entitled to your concerns, and if you feel that your nose is causing you to lack confidence, then you have every right to feel that way. Having a nose job or rhinoplasty can drastically change your life by boosting your self-esteem and confidence.

Rhinoplasty contains two benefits:

— It improves your appearance physically, so it has aesthetic benefits.
— It also has medical benefits as it can improve your breathing.

What Are The Aesthetic Benefits Of Nose Surgery?

One of the main reasons as to why people are attracted to the rhinoplasty procedure is because it contains aesthetic benefits. Not only can it dramatically change the shape and size of your nose, but lumps and bumps can be smoothed out, and a drooping tip can ultimately be shortened.

You may not know this, but by simply reshaping and improving the appearance of your nose, you can bring a sense of harmony and proportion to your face.

What Are The Medical Benefits Of Rhinoplasty Plano?

While most people seek out rhinoplasty to improve the appearance of the nose, the surgery does also contain medical benefits. For example, if you have problems breathing through your nose due to anatomical defects, the rhinoplasty procedure may be able to correct it. So if you have anatomical issues that include a deviated septum, turbinate hypertrophy and nasal valve collapse rhinoplasty can help.

Rhinoplasty can also improve the quality of your sleep by tackling anatomical problems, that cause breathing problems. Some people even experience an increase in congestion, allergies, and infection due to nasal deformities. Rhinoplasty could improve the symptoms as well. When you have your first consultation with the surgeon, you will be asked to disclose any breathing difficulties that you are experiencing. He will also examine your nose to check for any anatomical issues that could possibly be corrected during the surgery.

Am I A Good Candidate For Rhinoplasty?

This procedure would work particularly well with most nose shapes and sizes. However, a nose with a bridge bone or drooping tip is adequate for this procedure. So ultimately the best candidates for rhinoplasty are people who are healthy physically and have a realistic expectation of the results they want to achieve by having this procedure done. This procedure is not recommended for teenagers were under the age of 16 or 17 years of age. This is because the nose will continue to grow until this point and therefore the continuous growth will affect the results of the surgery.

What If My Nose Has Been Broken Before?

Many of our customers have been the victims of a broken nose due to a car accident or various other types of incidents. Unfortunately, a traumatic injury will definitely affect the appearance of your nose and in some cases may even cause breathing difficulties.

Different Types Of Rhinoplasty:

-Open Rhinoplasty: During the open rhinoplasty, incisions are made in the skin which is between your nostrils. The skin is often lifted so that your surgeon can access the areas where alterations are going to be made.
-Closed Rhinoplasty: With this type of rhinoplasty incisions are made in your nose, whereby the skin is folded back to expose the cartilage and bone
— Revision Rhinoplasty: In the event that you had the procedure done and you’re not entirely happy with the results, you can have revision rhinoplasty to produce the desired results.
-Ethnic Rhinoplasty: surgeons who perform this type of rhinoplasty need to have experience working with noses of Indian, Mexican, African-American, Persian and Latin descent. The key to this operation is ensuring that the nose is defined but yet the shape remains consistent with the ethnic heritage of the person.

Rhinoplasty was initially performed to correct structural problems that affect breathing. Two of the procedures that affect breathing problems include turbinectomy and septoplasty. A septoplasty corrects a deviated septum while a turbinectomy reduces the size of the turbinate bones in the nasal passage.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure

On the day that you schedule to have your surgery, you’ll meet with your surgeon before the procedure to discuss what’s about to happen and adjust any last minute questions or concerns. The entire procedure takes approximately 2.5 hours and will be performed under general anaesthetic. After the procedures completed your surgeon will insert a small splint on your nose to provide support and protection. Stents will also be placed inside your nose to help drain fluid and reduce swelling. Rhinoplasty is considered an outpatient procedure so you will probably be allowed to go home on the very same day after a short recovery.

What Can I Expect During Recovery And Followup?

Irrespective of whether you have your consultation in the Southlake or Plano offices, the surgery will always take place at the Southlake surgery center. Since this is an outpatient procedure, you will be allowed to go home the same day.
While you may experience slight discomfort, you will still be able to walk around. Oral pain medicine will also be prescribed for you.

You may experience some congestion due to the stents in your new nose, for a few days. However, after the first couple of days of rest, you can slowly but surely start to get into your usual routine. Dr. panel recommends that patients take at least 10 days off from work because of the bruising associated with the procedure. Alternatively, if you work from home you can return to work in as little as 2 to 3 days. One week after your surgery, you should return to our office for a follow-up visit so that the stents and splint can be removed. You will experience facial swelling however you will also start to see your new nose taking shape.

At the end of the first two weeks, the bruising should be healed and the swelling should also be reduced significantly. It is advised that in the first few weeks of recovery that you avoid high impact exercise and activities that can lead to facial swelling. Gentle exercises are recommended to reduce the risk of blood clot formation. After approximately six weeks 60% of the swelling should be reduced, 80% of the swelling should be deduced at around six months and 90% of the swelling within a year, and ultimately the final result should be seen two years after having the surgery.
